I also dont think I highered any value too much. I tried to not destroy the M50X sound signature but make my electronic music a bit more alive. Just add the Equalizer as DSP in Foobar and have fun with the M50X and electronic music! I was amazed how much more alive my music sounded. You can most likely still use the equalizer without my DAC/AMP but it might sound different because of ReplayGain, Bass Boost mode and such.ĪND here is the preset I uploaded. Well that should be all concerning my hardware setup, in case you want to try replicate anything as close as possible. Foobar should use the FiiO K3 in Wasapi event mode.

Foobar and Windows output should of course be on 100% volume and the FiiO output at 44100 32Bit. Another reason I use ReplayGain, beside of making the music less overmodulated and clippy. I always try to use as much power as possible for max clarity. My volume wheel usually clocks in around 75-100% of the max power. I should also note out that I use High Gain and Bass Boost setting on it.

So if you have none at all, I recommend getting it, its a massive improvement to any 08/15 onboard sound plus you will need the extra clarity and volume with ReplayGain and all. I should also note out that I use a AMP/DAC, the FiiO K3, which I just recently got after my old broke and I was pleasantly surprised how good a 100 dollar AMP/DAC can be. Since I still wanted to keep my ReplayGain volume and all, I "added"/reduced a extra -3dB, which seems to sound exactly as loud as before now, with the equalizer mind you. What I should also say is probably that I use ReplayGain on all my music with a extra -3dB preamp because of the equalizer, because as you know the equalizer actually makes the music/certain frequencies louder. The equalizer I made fixed ALL my named problems while not destroying the sound signature of the headphone. Maybe I should have bought different headphones to begin with but oh well. The bass was really low and the vocals not that much in the foreground. But the bass and mids really lack for my preferences to the point were it wasnt so much fun to listen to my kind of electronic music. One of the best features of the M50X anyway. In my opinion they are strong and good enough. The only thing I left untouched were the hights. My general aims were to get a more bassy and juicy electronic sound with slightly highering the lows and mids because that is in my opinion where the headphones are not really pronounced and held back, no wonder, they are supposed to be mastering neutral sound signature headphones. I 90% listen only to electronic genres, that is therefore where my EQ aims at but even in other genres like Metal it seems to sound absolutely fine.

Therefore I took a look at what others recommended or had done previously + I of course listened trial for several hours with all sorts of electronic music ranging from Techno, House, Industrial and so on. I had asked for help with an foobar2000 equalizer some time ago and mostly got recommended external tools which is nice and all but I really only wanted to make a easy and simple one in foobar2000.
